The first build in our garden

Short after purchasing the property, we had a tough autumn, a nasty winter and a quite rainy spring after that. The surface of the area behind the house was quite useless all the time and we were near falling or twisting ankles several times due to slippery mud, water, ice building or just the slope of the area.

I had an idea to build some kind of garden, something interesting that would be interesting for us and at the same time fun for the whole family. The idea to build raised beds and to grown some of our own food came not so much of a necessity, but more due to our curiosity, the need to learn and at the end of the day…. eat something that just tastes properly! 🙂

Finally I made a decision and I started to search for information, learn a lot on how to do things, what are the opinions around on the Internet. I tried to understand the pros and the cons of how and what to build.

I decided to start building and spend as little as it gets. Just to understand the process and learn how to use the new tools that I purchased.

The first thing that I did was the removal of a wooden platform that was (I supposed) intended to be used as a base for a shed of some kind. What I did is that I reused the wood and built a raised bed in front of our terrace. Due to the fact that the wood was a treated one, I used it just for flowers, not for food. I was as well very aware that that particular construction would be a temporary one due to the fact that the whole terrace would need a remake in a few years as well. Still, I went ahead and did that tiny project and I must say that I was pleased with the result.

This was just the beginning…… and I liked it! My new passion was born! It’s called GARDENING! 🙂

Anyhow, this was the very beginning, and right from that point we started to plan our garden. New raised beds would be constructed, I started digging and preparing the place for the green house and much more.

We love the idea to have the opportunity to escape or better to say, to have the possibility, the opportunity to evade the civilization and be able to enjoy the countryside, the nature as it should be….. We embrace the dirt under our nails or in our shoes, the sweat dripping after a hard day of work outside and the smell of all the plants that we nowadays have in our garden.

It’s relaxing and at the same time it’s fun to enjoy the evolution of our work, it’s a pleasure to see how the vegetables and flowers grow and admire how our trees develop in these years since 2022.
