Welcome to our lovely cottage. We found a place for our family where to relax and have fun in our free time and why not, create great memories in the future.
We were searching for a nice place for us for years. All the places that we decided to see had something missing or had some issues that were of some importance for us. What we wanted was quite simple. A place not too big, easy to manage, away from the chaos but still close to humans, yet surrounded by nature. Easy? Not really!
Many of interesting houses had bad structure, or lousy maintenance, a few bad smell of mold or smoke or even a mixture of these. Same had pluming issues and some had bad neighbors or ongoing court trouble or in some cases even illegal builds on the properties. It’s quite a crazy adventure to buy or even look for a property to purchase.
Anyhow, we found it the day when, after many wasted days visiting items on sale that were nothing for us, I finally got out of our vehicle and boy was I happy. I knew it! I needed to have that peace of heaven!
The house was at the limit of the accepted distance from Gothenburg for us. We decided that we needed to find something as far as 1h away, not more. And there it was, almost exact 1h from the city, immersed in the woods on two sides of the house. Huge trees, a magical area that seemed made just for us. The silence, the peace… right there, outside the car…. and that lovely tiny house that was the perfect size for us.
Well, we actually never discussed what should or should not be the size of the house to purchase, but we knew that it needed to be the “proper fit”. So nothing measurable…. more about “the feeling”.
The sale was finalized in June 2022 and we got the keys a few weeks after. Amazing. We had a place to enjoy and create new adventures…. new memories…..
With that event, our interest of the outdoors elevated into a stronger interest into gardening and growing our own food, thus this web site where we will try to write about the evolution of our experiences.
There is a huge amount of things that we have planned to do and along the way there is a mountain of knowledge to be acquired.
The property is situated in Sweden, so….. the climate is a factor that we most definitely need to understand and learn what and how to adjust, what to grow and/or how. We will learn, fail and hopefully during the process document here some of these experiences.
