Having more and more fancy garden tools, machines etc. it’s been more and more annoying to get to the necessary tools into the basement, in particular the mowing machine that is kind of heavy for my hurting back.
On our property there was a try to build a shed made by prior owners and it went bad. It was never completed a part of the deck that was in such a bad shape that i removed the whole thing and created a raised bad there instead.
Since that particular raised bad was in a shady position that received less light that necessary, I decided this year to do something about it and maybe move it. But that had a really low priority on my list….. well, until the fact that a friend of mine called me saying that a friend of his had a nice metal shed that he would very much get rid of for some beer! Said and done….. I was in! The project immediately had another priority!
Due to the fact that I was just being done dismantling the whole deck I had some usable lumber that I could use to build the foundation for the shed.
I went ahead and removed the raised bed, moved it in another location, moved the soil as well (that was a mountain of soil), and cleaned the area for the new shed. The area had a nice stone under and my idea was to raise the platform a bit in order to lower the humidity, have a good air flow, and avoid this way unpleasant construction issues. Another good thing was that three points out of four had bedrock under and that was just perfect in my opinion. Still, one side needed some “action” in order to remove approx. 15 cm of stone. To remove granite is most definitely not an easy task! But it went well after all.
After a few hours the whole structure was ready to accommodate the new shed.
Our friend helped us delivering the shed on a trailer and I got it up in position. It’s a good thing that that thing wasn’t too heavy. Anyhow, after attaching and securing the shed to the structure and painting the inside of the shed that had an extra reinforcement structure that needed some paint job and rust removal, the whole thing was ready to host some of my tools and make my life a bit easier.
Well, a few stairs were needed as well! 😉
