Our activities and passions

I love all the creating aspects of the life around our property. I learned to love and appreciate gardening, the work and effort maintaining the house, building furniture and the whole learning process that comes with it.
Still, a part from the part where I need to learn things, I do have some of my own passions that I exercise while being out here.

Here are some:

Trail Running

💫 Trail Running

I started running actively in 2013 and I never stopped since. The sport gave me a lot. A part of those well known and understandable physical benefits like getting in shape and gain some strength, I felt a huge benefit on my psyche as well. The mental strength, the equilibrium that the sport provides is immense for me. I feel just much, muck better after and while running. The sport gave me a lot. The opportunity to feel better, meet great people, see places that I wouldn’t have seen otherwise and be able to move on my feet for days with no stop and appreciate life on a completely different level.
I love the benefits that the sport gave me and I feel privileged that I have the passion about it and the opportunity to share the same passion wit others. It helped me in a moment of struggle in life…. a lot! 🙂

It’s a way of life, a choice. For me this is something important. It doesn’t need to be at the same level for everybody. Still, in my opinion, the return to the outdoors is important, almost vital nowadays.

My Art

💫 Painting

I always had that burning passion inside me and the need to express myself in a creative way. Paining and sometimes even mixing techniques always provided a place where to evade and move my feelings in another way.
Life happened and for many reasons I was unable to produce good art for many years. I had a good momentum while I lived in Croatia, than I got a good period in Germany but everything stopped from 1996 to 2008. A crazy amount of years with almost no creativity involved and it was hard. Really hard!
After our move to Sweden I had a period where I regained a bit of my creative energy and passion. But than again, work, tough choices in life and priorities made my creative side on pause once again. It’s always there… as an invisible companion waiting to explode. I really hope that I will soon have the opportunity do show what I am capable of and produce some fine peaces of art as well.

In the meantime feel free to take a look on some of my older works here:

Our Garden

💫 Gardening

When we purchased the property in June 2022 i never, ever had the expectation that gardening would become an important part of our daily life here. But it did and we are all happy with it! Both Maria and I are learning a lot, almost every day something new. We do follow many gardeners that are active in the area and/or in areas that have similar climate as the on of the Swedish are where we have our property.

We started with small steps. Just a few raised beds made of recycled wood, than I made a few better ones and we invested a bit of our money in that. Now we have a lovely garden area that we use to learn how to grow our own food.
We love the learning process and we love the given opportunity to learn a lot now while we can and hopefully our children will learn a bit as well and continue with this in the future.

In this web site we will most definitely put our focus around our evolution around the property. Feel free to follow our journey! 🙂

Lasagne

💫 Cooking

My wife and I have this amazing cultural connection due to the fact that history connects us is a way, and the peculiarity of the location of our fathers does affect our food preferences and what we love to cook and how to do it as well. It doesn’t matter what we do, we will always have this immense need to do it in a different way…. our own way.

My own love for cooking started already when I was 4 tears old. My curiosity for the creative aspect of cooking was always present, the love for different flavors, tastes, the design of the presentation of the food… all of it. Of course, when you cook your own food a lot depends of the time that you are able to dedicate on cooking, the budget and the importance of it. A good sandwich could always be a quick solution to a hungry moment, but I can always spice it a bit and make it a bit more “different” as well.

Anyhow, my foodie interest grew a lot and while studying in Italy I worked in restaurants evolving my knowledge and I adored the possibility to experiment a bit as well. I learned facts about the business and at the same time I had the opportunity to try thins at home. It was a good period of life where this passion of mine developed quite a bit.

Today, having a family, the only important thing for us is to pass to our children the love for the ingredients and most important the understanding of how things are produces, the quality and the why.

Our family opted for the vegetarian way of living since the first day and we love it. The fact that we started gardening and growing our own food makes the challenge a bit more interesting. One thing is just to pick things in a grocery store. It’s a completely something different when you dedicate time, love and passion into growing your own food. It tastes better in each and every way possible. It’s true! 🙂

💫 Yoga • Shinrin-yoku • Te • Mindfulness

Maria started a wonderful journey a few years ago starting with Yoga. Her love for Yoga opened a new chapter for her. She chose to certify in Sensing Hatha Yoga & Life and Sensing Yoga as well as a Shinrin-yoku, a Japanese practice of therapeutic relaxation that involves immersing yourself in nature to connect with the environment.
Mindfulness, her immense love for the nature, the pure practice of grounding (or earthing – refers to direct skin contact with the surface of the Earth, such as with bare feet or hands, or with various grounding systems) and the art of embracing its impact grew and she included into the mix as well her love for tea.
A tea ceremony is a highly ritualized and choreographed cultural event of preparing and serving tea.

Feel free to contact Maria if you will learn more or why not, experience an amazing event.

More should be soon be published on her dedicated web site:
