The heating upgrade

During the last month of 2024 we decided that it was about time to upgrade our old heating device that was getting really messy and we couldn’t trust it anymore. A new, modern device was much needed. We searched online and opted for the same producer that is in located Sweden, hoping for a decent service and support and quality level as well of course.

We opted for the KMP Lilla Frö. As stated on the web site of the producer:

“Despite its small dimensions and light weight, Lilla Frö is a full-fledged stove with a large pellet storage capacity, which provides a long burning time and with the same high efficiency as our other stoves.
Lilla Frö has a design and format that fits in most home environments. The sides and top are painted in black or white and the cast iron front is available in black or silver gray.
Lilla Frö is an easy-to-maintain and affordable alternative that provides comfortable warmth and an extra cozy feeling in holiday homes and smaller villas.”

We ordered one and after a few weeks it was installed by a local technician. We were really pleased with the much nicer and modern design, but most of all we liked the economy of the consumption of the pellets, the security of it and the possibility to control it online. That last part was very handy during winter days. We could now start the heating while leaving the city and the house would be perfectly warm and cozy upon our arrival. Huge difference.

The old one that was installed a few decades ago (maybe even in the 90’s), didn’t have such features and it was a huge problem to leave it running. We were lucky enough that those occasions when the front door opened due to high pressure we were present at home and were able to close it immediately and open all the doors and windows in order to get rid of the smoke. Once that happened even during the night and that was the moment when we finally decided to invent into a new product.

The new heater did have a few minor issues and it still has. Some of those were fixed by the local technician but I must say that the waiting time for the parts is absurd and musty be better. It is not acceptable to wait for several weeks in the middle of the winter for parts that are needed to fix a pellets heater that is very much needed. We were forced to use the electric heaters and trust me…. the price of electricity in Sweden is not pretty nowadays! :/

The new device is nice, it’s smaller and it had a better overall design, it works fine but sometimes it gets really noisy. I had to use a workaround in order to apply more pressure between the heaters metal part on the back and the wall to get rid of that metal noise. Quite irritating that one if/when working from home.

Still, despite those few minor glitches, errors with the pellet feeding system, we are very happy with the product. The best part is that it’s really good for us keeping us warm during the long winter days here in Sweden. It’s really efficient both in the heat production and pellets consumption.

The price was not a joke. It’s around 40.000 SEK.

Thank you KMP.

N.B. This is absolutely not a sponsored article. As a matter of fact I have quite a list of things that I could suggest to make this item even better in the future! 🙂
